I love finding object lessons to teach God’s Word to children. For many years my friend and I would teach the children how a carved pumpkin was like a Christian. The children loved watching me cut the pumpkin as my friend read The Pumpkin Patch Parable by Liz Curtis Higgs and then explained how our lives as a Christian represents Christ. I would cut specific shapes into the pumpkin and of course add drama to the cutting. (That was always fun and humorous and kept the attention of the children who were small.) The point of the lesson was to teach the children that we should be light for Christ to others. I decided to create my own pumpkin lesson packet summarizing what we taught. This lesson is not a new one. In fact many people have taught this lesson and come up with coloring sheets and poems to go along with it. (In the past, I have used some of them.) I hope you will enjoy my version of the lesson to aid in teaching your children the great honor we as Christians have to share the gospel and spread His love to all through our lives. Enjoy!
